Claude here. New member, old Verbena fan. It sucks that they broke up. I was just wondering if anyone had the lyrics to "Dirty Goodbyes," and what would be a good place to find Verbena lyrics online?

for any of you who are in this community and not on the verbena yahoo group...it's official:
VERBENA is no longer a band. there are some talks of releasing all of the unreleased material, but nothing concrete yet. anyone who has heard any of it knows that it is definitely worthy of seeing the light of day.
i'll try to keep anyone who is interested up to date on all the boyzz.
sad, sad, sad.

love,
conrad

Does anyone know what exactly happened with Anne-Marie? I know she left that band, but I also noticed that in La Musica Negra it says something along the lines of "For Anne-Marie." Did some kind of an argument take place? Was the little album note an apology of sorts? Or is that just dramatic and far from the truth?

and i really don't want to eat my words, so let's just hope i don't. :) but in response to the previous post about the band, i'd assume that they're not broken up. i was at the halloween show and all seemed functional. usually they have a big following in their hometown, but it wasn't the case for this occasion. but you have to take into consideration that it WAS halloween nite and i'm sure that there were a lot of other things going on in b'ham and the surrounding areas and that probably cut the show's attendance down greatly. driving through the city just to get to zydeco (the venue) proved this completely. the streets were flooded with people, out doing their own thing.

we'll see how well they're doing come december, in time for the (hopefully!) traditional hometown show... at the nick...?

so. . . are verbena actually broken up?
I read on Buddyhead that they are, then on the local h board that they're not.

what's the digs? and if they're not, do they even care about getting their CDs noticed? they haven't done any touring it seems.

From Buddyhead.com: Capitol has some Verbena CD’s to give away. If you wanna win one, email us at buddyhead@buddyhead.com with “yes, I really like Verbena” in the subject and in the body of the mail tell us why the fuck you like that band. We’ll pick our favorite answers and if you’re not a loser you’ll get a free cd! Oh boy, is right! If you have no idea who the fuck Verbena is, you can watch their video they made to sell them lots of records.

So, they weren't brutal on 'em, just kinda snide. Maybe a few good e-mails could instill respect?
But have a sense of humor.

p. please

the shows in athens (12) and ATL (13) more-or-less employed the same sets, only with additions of STRANGELOVE and SHAPED LIKE A GUN to the encores, respectively. for those who are unaware, MOUNTAIN is a newish track that just kills anything in AND out of its path of destruction. it starts off all slow and sleazy and works its way into a full-on rock blast, something only verbena can perfect really.

looks like there will be more touring in a few months or so, probably to the same extent as the current tour, maybe a week or so longer prehaps. time will tell about that.

dunno what else to add. um, if you're going to the shows, make sure to talk to conrad, their merch gentleman. he is quite the fellow.

anyone else been to any of the recent swing of shows? opinions? thoughts on the creeper that is MOUNTAIN, if you have been so privileged to be exposed to it? anything?

a friend of mine just told me that there's this fashion/music mag called Nylon... and they have a section called "mixtape" or something like that where musicians submit a playlist for a tape they'd make. one of the members of verbena submitted one... i'll get more info and post it or something... she's mailing me the article.

but if any of you know what i'm talking about, speak up, dammit.

The new Filter magazine issue is out (May/Jun) and Blur is on the cover. It’s really cool and there are some interesting articles on the White Stripes, Palo Alto Cave In, Ya Lo Tengo, VERBENA, Liz Phair as well as many others. There are also some insightful reviews on new albums such as Radiohead’s Hail to the Thief, Band of Bees’ Sunshine Hits Me as well as a review of the new X-men movie.
